Welcome to Silence, a cutting-edge creative digital agency that works for clients in a variety of sectors, including entertainment, finance and government.

Providing strategic advise on online advertising, viral marketing, social media and web build and SEO, Silence is a London based agency formed by some of the UK's longest-serving digital strategists.

We take pride in our work with the top names in the entertainment industry, like Simon Cowell's Syco Records, Nick O'Hagan's Giant Films and H.G Wells's English PEN, and our projects for financial institutions like Grant Thornton and Euromoney, toy company Hasbro and the government department The Department for Children, School and Families.

We believe that good digital marketing stems from following audiences, not technologies, and gauging which of the established and emerging digital platforms are worth our clients' investment. If you want to talk about how digital marketing can enhance your business, please call Lee Henshaw on +44 (0)207 014 3020.

Daylight Robbery
Daylight Robbery
A heist movie starring Geoff Bell
Our personalised viral for the British heist movie Daylight Robbery reunited the director, Paris Leonti, with his leading man, Geoff Bell (Rock'n'Rolla, Girl with a Pearl Earring, Green Street). Never before has the cast and crew of a movie worked so closely with the digital agency marketing the film. Daylight Robbery's producer, Nick O'Hagan, believes this collaboration has produced a website that's "best in class".
John Illsley
John Illsley
From Dire Straits
John Illsley was the bass player in Dire Straits, a band that sold over 130 million albums. We launched John's new website to coincide with the release of his Beautiful You album, a collaboration with the Irish singer Greg Pearle. As well as showcasing his new music, the website introduces fans to John's art, which he exhibits around the world.
The Unwinking Gaze
The Unwinking Gaze
Documentary about the Dalai Lama
Our campaign for Joshua Dugdale's film about the Dalai Lama, The Unwinking Gaze, brought the debate about China and Tibet to the website we built for him. When the film was released, China's treatment of Tibet was frontpage news and we arranged interviews with Josh on heavyweight political TV shows like Newsnight and The Daily Politics, where he encouraged people to visit his website to demonstrate their support for Tibetans.
Get Connected
Get Connected
A helpline for young people
For Get Connected, a helpline for young people supported by, amongst others, Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone, we launched a national film competition around themes like self-harm, bullying and housing. Nobody's Perfect was judged by actors Georgia Groome (Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging) and JJ Feild (Northanger Abbey) and the musician Sandi Thom (I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker) (pictured).

Online Ads

Audition
Audition
The world's largest online game
Our online advertising campaign for the UK launch of Audition, the South Korean video game with over 300 million players in SE Asia, featured British breakdancers mimicking moves from the game. We placed video ads on Viacom's popular Shockwave website that outperformed all other ads on the Viacom network by four times.
Shaggy
Shaggy
The international reggae star
We had the privilege of working with the reggae superstar Shaggy, who has sold more albums than Bob Marley, around the release of his Number 1 single Church Heathen. For his online advertising campaign, we produced ads for urban websites like Pyro Radio and RWD Mag. Each ad was unique, with Shaggy talking about subjects relevant to the different audiences.
Valeriya
Valeriya
Russia’s biggest pop star
Valeriya's story is remarkable. She is Russia's first pop star, a status she has carved out over 15 years, selling over 100 million albums there. Silence's online advertising campaign for her debut UK single was widely reported as a groundbreaking technique by the marketing trade press. It saw Valeriya writing the name of each of the websites we advertised on in lipstick on a mirrored door.
English PEN
English PEN
The world's leading writers' club
English PEN is a 100 year-old writers' club that promotes human rights around the world. It was recently in the press following JK Rowling's donation from an auction of her work. Silence has produced the PEN Atlas website, a wiki style website for Arab novelists like Alaa al Aswany to submit content about their books for a UK audience interested in literature from the Middle East. Silence is selling the advertising space on the Atlas.

Viral Marketing

Dom Joly
Dom Joly
Comedian of Trigger Happy TV fame
Dom Joly's classic comedy creation is Big Mobile Phone Man, who would scream "Hello" into his big phone in public place on the Trigger Happy TV series. The character was recently updated with an enormous bluetooth earpiece. Dom asked us to come up with a stunt featuring Big Mobile Phone Man so we organised for him to record some x-rated ringtones, which were then 'stolen' and put online by a leading skate punk website.
Alicia Keys
Alicia Keys
Nine-time Grammy award winning singer
We were asked by Alicia Key's record label, Sony BMG, to create a viral application for her fans to discuss problems they've faced and how they solved them, reflecting one of the themes of As I Am, Alicia's latest album. We chose to create a Facebook application because of its popularity with her target audience, women between 25 and 35.
Queer Fish in God’s Waiting Room
Queer Fish in God’s Waiting Room
The debut novel by Lee Henshaw
Our founder and creative director, Lee Henshaw, is also an author. His debut novel, Queer Fish in God's Waiting Room, was published earlier this year by Legend Press. Our stunt for Queer Fish saw fans putting the book in bookshops next to the works of Hemingway before it was published. They took a photo of themselves outside the bookshop holding the book, and one of the book on the shelf, which Lee then published on his Next to Hemingway blog.
Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet
Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet
Hasbro's popular Transformers toy
To coincide with The Spice Girls' Christmas advert for this voice changer helmet, we produced a short viral film for young Transformers fans. The star of our viral, a boy obsessed with the helmet, spent the whole day wearing it...even when it came to brushing his teeth before bed!
